Yep, it's Jared Leto.... again ! Not much to tell you 'bout this. Mood + fantastic reference = me drawing Jared
I started drawing this on Monday. Wasn't even going to finish it, just had to do something, (I should have been studying but I have a cold). So yeah... this is me studying .
Aaaaaaaaand I do realize that there's a mic on the picture... despite me having said that I would never EVER draw one again... Oh well. It wasn't as much a p.i.t.a. to draw as the last one (or even the one before that? How many mics have I drawn??).
Time: It was done pretty quickly, took me about 1,5 hours, 2 at the most. Materials: - White "supracolor II soft" from CARAN d'ACHE - smooth black paper for presentation / chalk illustration from CANSON - blending stick (although it didn't really work with this kind of pencil....) Size: The paper size is A4 (29.7x21cm), but the drawing is a little smaller than that. Reference: of course ! Found it on google some time ago... Will link you to it, when (and if) I find it again. Title: "Between Heaven And Hell" is a strophe from "Kinds And Queens" by 30STM !
That is SUCH a bummer you have to use such invasive watermarks now. I hate when that happens to such great artists. : ( I actually saved some of your stuff to use as wallpapers and inspiration. Nice piece though, you're really amazing.
Yes, I also hate having to do this but at the moment I'm just too pissed of by the whole thing. Maybe I'll lighten up the watermarks a little for future drawings but I'm not going to change the ones I've already uploaded this way (otherwise I'll piss off people who are watching me by spaming their inbox). And thank you so much, it's nice to hear!
Thank you so much for the nice comment! I'm very glad that you like it!
Hehe, yeah, I don't really see the microphone as a microphone... It is more stick-ish .
About the blending: could it be that the pastel is on an oil basis? I'm no expert at all in this area, I just felt like it would be a great idea to blend, but then it didn't work... Or do you think that the area was too small and thus one can't see the blending?
The pleasure is mine, Franziska Unfortunately, I don't know either if it is fault of an oil basis. I blend soft pastels with my finger, and it works. Once I tried blending with a cotton bud, it didn't turn out, but it might have been too small area to blend. Don't know, really
beautiful, this is the kind of effect im going for in mine at the mo but unfortunately i take the lazy way out and do it in photoshop! credit where credits due - i also have a cold at the min and find jared helps
Thank you so much, I'm glad you like it ! II guess I'll have to do more drawings with this sort of technique, huh ? Okay, I mean if you insist .
And guess what: the reference was in the "ok, but not excellent" folder (remember my rating system??? It didn't make the top 30, or something like that....). I think it was because of the size and the fact that Jared's face isn't reeeaaaaally recognizable...
