You can’t imagine how much I had to force myself to complete that microphone! I almost let it disappear into the background (*little hairy demon whispering into my ear “Just take that 9B pencil, cover the whole thing up and forget there ever was a microphone”*), but that would have been the easy way out. Now I’m officially adding “microphones” to my mental list of “Items I will never, ever draw again” (the list already contains necklaces and crooked glasses).
Ok, let’s concentrate ourselves on the positive things: it’s done and now I can finally start something new . This doesn’t mean that I’m not satisfied with the result (… I am ), I simply don’t have the patience to continue… (I think my patience got lost somewhere between the hairs of his beard).
WIPs:
Time: 38 hours Size: A4 Materials used: - HB mechanical pencil - B, HB, 2B, 3B, 5B and 9B pencils - Kneaded eraser - Blending sticks, my finger, and a brush
Oh, this reminds me of something: I found a new blending technique ! Maybe you guys have been using this forever, but I just stumbled across it – by accident. I was erasing part of the background and tried to find something to wipe away those little, annoying leftovers from the kneaded eraser without ruining the drawing, when I thought of brushing them away with a paint brush. That worked out pretty well, and as I was about to continue with drawing, I realized that I blended the background nice and smoothly. It was really fascinating. Why hadn’t I thought of that before?!?! Anyway, thought I should share this epiphany with you (I wish I had one while drawing the microphone).
And now to the really important thing: The title "Can you feel it?" was suggested by (THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT , you’ll get the promised llama badge in a minute )! It’s actually part of the lyrics from “The End of the Beginning” by 30 Seconds To Mars !
Okay, everything said, I think.

EDIT I know the watermark is uglyfying and hideous, but there's no use bitching about it, I'm not gonna get rid of it. Sorry. You have the art thieves to thank.
This is an amazing piece of artwork from a true master, i feel kind of silly 'little old me' giving a critique of such an awesome piece of artwork, but i guess sometimes it is really helpful to see things with 'a fresh pair of eyes'
i could start off by listing all the things i like about this but it would take a long time, it is impactful, striking, well rendered, realistiv, emotive, textured... in fact i'm going to run out of superlatives!
the biggest thing that lets it down (and i know this cant always be helped) is the watermark across all the bits i want to look at... it detracts from the image which is such a shame. i know that the art world is teeming with people who steal others work and claim it as their own and it ruins the enjoyment for all others, but its a shame we cant see this drawing in all its glory.
the other thing i would say, is that maybe the skin would benefit from a little more detail? there is a great tutorial by svera (look in the graphite gods tutorial section) which gives a really easy method to drawing photo realistic skin tone, complete with pores and hairs...
i want to be really helpful and give a thorough critical analysis but this is too good! hopefully some of our masters will be able to shed some more light for you?
Oh my Dear God...This is just sunning! I can't belive how perfect are the details...You're a very talented person, and I hope you will amaze us with some more! Keep it up!
