MAJOR FAILURE!!! Yes, I do not like this one at all! I'm only uploading it because I announced it yesterday.
You probably don't recognize him; this is supposed to be Matt Bomer, known as Neal Caffrey from White Collar. And I didn't do him justice at all. This drawing only looks acceptably okay from a very large distance and if you don't know what Matt Bomer really looks like.
Short background story: I had a really tough week and in order to somehow survive it I started drawing this. I know I can do better, but I didn't put any effort into it, I only had to do SOMETHING to occupy my mind.
Time: 4 hours Size: 8.5cm x 10.5cm / 3.35'' x 4.13'' Materials: dorée - Profi-Block für Zeichnung + Skizze (= dorée - professional block for drawings and sketches), 170 g/m2 blue ballpoint pen Reference: no idea who the photographer is...
I can't tell you if you did him justice, because I haven't ever seen him, but I know his name because one of my gals watch this show. Anyway, I like it! A good choice of a reference photo, not a typical one. The style is very interesting, it's hard to get all the details with a ballpoint pen and on such a small piece of paper! Kudos to you for being able to do it I also love the way your drew his shirt ^^ And it's also harder to get resemblance of a person using a ballpoint pen - no corrections later! If you dropped a link to the reference photo, I could judge the likeness, now I can't
Well, here's the ref [link] As you can see, I totally screwed up his handsome face. Oh well, as I said, it was only meant as an occupation, to get my mind off things.
BUT I'm happy you like it (... though you probably won't anymore once you saw the reference ...). He's a very handsome fella (and apparently he's going to play a stripper, or Chippendale, in his next movie ), I'm going to have to draw him again some day, and when I do I'll try to do him justice.
Yeah, ballpoint pen.... It seemed like a fun idea, but I'm not used to drawing with it so it could have been done better. But I'm also gonna give it another try some other time, because the no-corrections-thing is quite a challenge .
Indeed a resemblance lacks a bit, but it doesn't mean it is a bad drawing, I still like it very much! Oh I believe him, playing a stripper, might be a huge eye candy, but I can't refrain from saying out loud, that I think a stripper is the most humiliating job for men Anyway, I'll be looking forward to see the next drawing of him, naked or in clothes
Okay, for your information ... I think it looks fine! But then again, I don't really know who Matt Bomer is.
But I get you when you said that about having a terrible week and picking up a ballpoint pen. I find that working with one of those is the best theraphy one can find.
Exactly! It really is therapeutic, for some odd reason much more than pencil drawings...
Yeah well, if you KNEW the reference you wouldn't say that. There is actually nothing I like about this piece, it's horrible in every way, but it reminds me of the hard time I went through while creating it, so it still is kinda special to me.
